Con il loro lento fluire e il loro gioco di specchi, le calme acque della contea di Roscommon trasmettono un senso di pace a chi approda in questo angolo tranquillo nell’ Ovest d’Irlanda. 

Un cuneo verde nell’entroterra, dove la natura ha le fattezze delle montagne, delle brughiere e dei laghi. Questi ultimi, con i loro specchi d’acqua lucenti e l’abbraccio verde dei boschi, non fanno certo rimpiangere il mare. Non ci credi? Vieni nel Lough Key Forest Park, bellissimo parco di 350 ettari in riva al lago e regalati una magnifica giornata all’aria aperta, con tutta la famiglia. 

E poi c’è lo stroardinario patrimonio storico del Roscommon, nascosto nelle pieghe di questo suolo verde ancora indomito. Cominciamo dalla meravigliosa Boyle Abbey e dalla Strokestown Park House. E non è che l’inizio…
