Il Longford è il cuore del cuore d’Irlanda, le  Midlands. Un po’ fuori dai grandi circuiti turistici, la contea è riuscita a tenere "segrete" le attrattive della sua straordinaria campagna, ancora intatta: laghi, torbiere, pascoli e acquitrini. Risparmiata dal turismo di massa, questa terra è la meta ideale per chi è in cerca di scenari selvaggi, gente schietta, atmosfere intime e una pace assoluta. Qui, nel magnifico silenzio, i pescatori "ascoltano" i pesci e i nostalgici respirano il passato. 

Assicurati che la tua tabella di marcia preveda una sosta ad Ardagh, delizioso villaggio della seconda metà dell’Ottocento; a quel capolvaro di architettura e di verde che è la Belvedere House con i suoi giardini e all’incredibile Corlea Trackway Visitor Centre, che racconta della storica Old Bog Road, una strada dell’età del Ferro rinvenuta nella torbiera di Corlea.
