In tutto il mondo il Kildare è noto come la contea dei cavalli. E in effetti è una terra dalla forte vocazione e dalla lunga tradizione equestre. Stiamo parlando, è vero, della contea della National Stud, del Punchestown Racecourse e del Curragh… ma questa è una terra bellissima, cara non solo agli appassionati di cavalli ma anche ai pescatori e ai patiti del golf. Una terra magnifica anche per chi non ama lo sport e desidera solo scenari magici in cui perdersi, magari alloggiato nel lusso bucolico di splendide dimore di campagna trasformate in eleganti alberghi.
Perché soprattutto di campagna consiste il Kildare, spicchio d’Irlanda tranquillo e discreto, speso tra pascoli immensi, vaste torbiere, foreste avvolte dalla nebbia e corsi d’acqua argentati.
E in questo abbraccio di natura, ecco improvvise le sorprese del Kildare… come i giardini giapponesi della National Stud, i Larchill Arcadian Gardens e la maestosa Russborough House.
Un quadro decisamente poetico, quindi. E pensare che siamo a soli 40 chilometri dal centro di Dublino!
