Eletta la città più "friendly" d'Europa e nominata Città della Letteratura dall'UNESCO, la capitale non si fa mancare proprio nulla: un centro vivace, parchi e giardini, panorami bellissimi sul mare, boutique griffate… La Dublino moderna è come stimolata da una continua scossa elettrica, senza mai però staccare la spina con il passato. Sulla città soffiano contemporaneamente un vento nuovo e uno nostalgico. Senza ombra di dubbio è una delle capitali europee più effervescenti, capace di offrire di tutto: storia, cultura, divertimento - detto anche "craic" in gaelico. La città, che ha dato i natali a scrittori del calibro di James Joyce, George Bernard Show e Oscar Widle, ospita numerosi splendidi edifici in stile georgiano, situati per la maggior parte a Merrion Square, dove ha anche sede il parlamento irlandese. St Stephen's Green, Trinity College e, naturalmente, la Guinness Storehouse, sono tutti raggiungibili a piedi nell'area del centro.


Ma Dublino non è solo il suo centro storico. Dalla baia di Dublino si estende una delle coste più spettacolari d'Irlanda. Una passeggiata lungo il Poolbeg Pier dona la suggestione di cavalcare le onde. Una volta in cima al pontile, la visione di Dublino è unica, incorniciata da montagne da un lato, e sull’altro lato dal capo di Howth... un quadro unico. Lungo il litorale altre piccole perle incorniciano la città: Skerries e Malahide verso nord; Dùn Laoghaire, Sandycove e Dalkey a Sud. Tutte possibili mete di un giorno, da raggiungere facilmente con il DART, il treno verde che collega la capitale a tutto il suo meraviglioso hinterland.

Ce n’è per tutti i gusti, insomma. E soprattutto per tutte le tasche. C’è persino uno speciale Dublin Pass, che consente di risparmiare su oltre 30 attrazioni e siti turistici della città.
