Belfast
08 June 2013 - 17 June 2013
The Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB), Northern Ireland Screen and Titanic Belfast is delighted to welcome HBO’s Game of Thrones Exhibit to Northern Ireland, the home of Game of Thrones, from June 8th to 17th 2013.
One of the most popular and successful fantasy TV series ever – the HBO Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning Game of Thrones – will come alive for fans in an immersive, not-to-be-missed touring exhibition that will transport viewers into the breathtaking and enchanted world of Westeros.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s best-selling books, Game of Thrones is an intricate and visually stunning epic series that has captured the imaginations of fans globally with its striking characters that live in a world whose summers and winters can last years.
Now an engaging exhibit has been created that brings the vivid and rich world of Westeros to fans in five international cities – including Belfast.
Tickets for the show, which will be housed in Titanic Belfast, the world’s largest Titanic visitor experience, are free of charge and will go on general release on 17 May through the Titanic Belfast website. There will also be a limited number of pre-sale tickets available prior to general release, which can be accessed by signing up for further information through the Game of Thrones section on this website.
Production for Seasons 1 - 3 of Game of Thrones was based in Belfast, with filming taking place in Titanic Studios and across various Northern Ireland locations, including the North Coast, Tollymore Forest Park and Castle Ward. HBO is returning to film Season 4 in Northern Ireland.
The exhibition will focus on key characters from five of the noble houses (Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, Baratheon and Greyjoy) and displays will include;
Costumes, props, armour and weapons – artisans, whose superb craftsmanship has provided authenticity to the medieval world of the show, worked closely with HBO to curate the exhibit with items including: an impressive costume display overseen by the show’s head costume designer Michele Clapton who dressed the mannequins to ensure accuracy in the presentation of the extraordinarily detailed garments, iconic artefacts such as model dragons, weaponry (King Joffrey’s crossbow, daggers and swords), armour (helmets, shields and full suits of armour worn by key characters in the show), crowns, jewellery, books and much more.
Backwater Bay Interactive Experience – fans will get an opportunity to participate in an exciting interactive experience that will place them amid the action of the epic battle of Backwater Bay from Season 2.
Iron Throne – fit for any king or queen, fans will be able to take their photo on a precise replica of the iron throne from the series to post and share on social media sites.
The exhibition will also display an array of high end, official Game of Thrones merchandise from the HBO Shop®.
