The third Mountain Walking Festival takes place over the May Bank Holiday weekend in 2010. Enjoy a unique combination of mountain and sea, as Leenane is situated on the edge of Killary Harbour and surrouded by mountains in all directions. This is a festival with something for all levels of walkers - * Guided walks up Mweelrea Mountain (the highest in Connacht!), Leenane Mountain, Devil's Mother & Ben Gorm led by Michael Gibbons, the well-known archaeologist, and gerry Greensmyth. * Low-level guided walks along the Famine Tracks and the Western Way. * Self-guided short walks for the family * Programme of talks and music * Code of conduct and public insurance for all walkers * Special Activity deals at Delphi & Killary Adventure Centre for the weekend * No problem on any of the guided walks with access No dogs allowed. All guided walks will be led by qualified and experienced guides, aided by locals with vast knowledge and information on the area. Transport to and from starting and finishing points will be provided. Registration opens at 08.00 on Saturday morning, 2nd May, at the Sheep & Wool Centre in Leenane.
