- Directions: The visitor centre is situated in a modern building on the Grand Canal Basin in Ringsend in the south-east of Dublin City, 1.5km from City Centre. Off Pearse Street or accessed from Grand Canal Street Lower. Buses: 2 or 3, or DART to Grand Canal Dock Station.

The Waterways Ireland Visitor Centre, or the ‘Box on the Docks’, will bring you on an informative journey of the waterways from the pre Christian period to its modern use. The centre houses an exhibition which explores Ireland's inland waterways, their historical background and their modern amenity uses. The centre is open to visitors from March to October (Wednesday to Sunday). This architecturally unique space is also available to book all year round for meetings, launches, exhibitions and more.
