Make your own badge!
In Ireland everyone wears a small bunch of shamrock on the big day. We thought you might like to get involved in the tradition too. So we’ve put together a little kit for you to make your own shamrock badge! Just print it out, and follow the instructions. Why not post a picture of you and your results on our Facebook page – best creative efforts get prizes!
Irish pubs in the UK
Why not try to get out the gang out of the office a bit early and set yourself up in a cosy pub with a pint of the black stuff – it’d be rude not to! Lots of Irish bars dish out free Irish stew on the day and most will have a traditional music session going too. You’ll find some reviews of Irish bars in London here, and listings of nearly every Irish bar in the UK here .
St Patrick's playlist
There's nothing like some music to kick off a celebration! If you've got access to Spotify then you're in luck - we've pulled together a playlist of St Patrick's Day tunes. You'll find a bit of everthing in there, the usual suspects (U2, Van Morrison and the Pogues) and few unusual up-and-coming Irish acts. We're also giving away 50 much sought after invites to join Spotify, just leave your details here.
Learn Irish (Gaelic)
The Irish (Gaelic) language is still spoken in small areas in the west of Ireland - known as Gaeltacht regions. We've pulled together a few words and phrases (with some guidance on pronounciation!). Why not have a go at wishing your family and friends a happy St Patrick's Day 'as gaelige' (in Irish).
