Brigid's Way Celtic Pilgrimage

Kildare Town

07 July 2013 - 16 July 2013

The Brigid’s Way Celtic Pilgrimage will begin in Faughart, Co. Louth, traditional birthplace of St.Brigid, site of her shrine and a centre of Pre-Christian Brigid worship. It will follow an ancient pilgrimage route through Louth, Meath and Kildare to end at the site of Brigid’s monastery in Kildare Town. It is expected that the 65 mile pilgrimage will take approx. 9 days and people are invited to walk some or all of the route. Food and accommodation will be arranged for participants on the first pilgrimage, starting on 7th July which will be led by Dolores Whelan and Karen Ward, who have lead pilgrimages to sacred sites for many years. This initiative has been inspired by a desire to revive the ancient art of pilgrimage which was so central to the indigenous spiritual traditions of this land. This pilgrimage which honours Brigid Goddess and Saint, will allow participants to slow down their pace of life by walking through some of the most beautiful rural towns, villages and countryside of Ireland, to find that place of deep inner peace. Details of the pilgrimage route and all other information will be available in Spring 2013 and will be posted on website listed.
