Táin Walking Festival

Based in the medieval village of Carlingford, the walks are varied and cater for all levels of fitness. Walks will include hikes in the Cooley Mountains, strolls around the shores of Carlingford Lough and historical walks exploring the myths and legends of the surrounding area. There is a Night Walk - Slieve Foy Panorama Grade 1. Walk the highest peak in the Cooley Mountains by night. The route will travel along the Táin Way to the Goylin Pass, up Slieve Foye and over to Barnavave returning to Carlingford. The Cooley Peaks Grade 1 is a challenging walk that will begin in Ravensdale and cover the highest peaks in the Cooley Mountains offering spectacular views of Carlingford Lough, Dundalk Bay and the Cooley Peninsula. The Slieve Gullion Walk Grade 2 begins in the beautiful Slieve Gullion Courtyard, Park, and will explore Slieve Gullion's fascinating geology and beauty. The Barnavave and Grange Loop Grade 3 is a nice walk beginning in Carlingford and following the Tain Trail to The Goylin Pass, continuing to Barnavave, past The Famine Village, Irish Grange and returning to Carlingford.
