Russell Memorial Weekend
22 February 2013 - 25 February 2013
The Micho Russell Weekend began in 1995 in memory of Micho Russell the world famous traditional musician and singer who died in 1994. The name was changed to the Russell Weekend in 2006 to reflect the musical contribution of Micho's brothers Packie and Gussie. The weekend promotes the musical heritage of Clare and in 2013 includes a talk on Friday night about the history of traditional Irish music and song. On Saturday there is an afternoon concert, with traditional music, song and dance followed by a food and wine reception. On Sunday there is the Festival Mass followed by set dancing. There are also music recitals and workshops as well as informal sessions throughout the weekend in the pubs and hotels of Doolin.
