Soul Burgers in Concert

Sligo Town

06 October 2012

This autumn’s first spoken word and music event is taking place in The Model on Saturday the 6th of October, at 8pm. Soul Burgers in concert are a poet and piper duet based on a recovery story told in verse by Christina Reihill. Described by Marian Keyes as “The Emily Dickinson of Addiction” and Peter Sheridan as “Soul Burgers gets under the skin and stays there”. The performance, features the poet telling her story of addiction and recovery and is accompanied by the haunting melodies of renowned Irish uillean pipes player, Eoin O’Cionnaith. Absorbed in the glamorous lifestyle that came with working on Vogue Magazine in London in the 1980s, Christina Reihill convinced herself that her drinking and drug taking were not a problem. Soul Burgers live is the stage adaptation and lyrical narrative of her critically acclaimed book about her experiences. Her story is honest and incredibly touching.
