The Jacques Leglise Trophy is an annual golfing competition that sees two teams of nine amateur boys representing Great Britain and Ireland (GB & I) and Continent of Europe competing against each other. The St Andrews Trophy is a biennial event for talented over 18 golfers. The teams are selected by the St Andrews based organisation The R&A, which assumes responsibility for the administration of the rules of golf on behalf of over 30 million golfers in 128 countries. There are three Irish participants in the 2012 Jacques Leglise Trophy. Previous high profile participants include Ireland’s golf ambassador Padraig Harrington and 2011 US Open winner Rory McIlroy.
