Mórshiúl Lá Fhéile Pádraig - St. Patrick's Day Parade
Listowel
17 March 2013
Stage entertainment in the Square including the best of traditional music, song and dance. Billy Keane as MC will do a commentary on the parade of colourful and musical community groups. Begins at 12.30pm. The event has been organised by Glór na nGael since 1978. There is strong support from the people of North Kerry - especially the schools. There is special emphasis on the use of Irish in the various entries. Prizes are awarded in a number of categories after the parade. Large crowds including a high percentage of young families assemble at vantage points for viewing in the Square and around the town. It is indeed a big day out in town afterwards with many visitors and people home from abroad in evidence. The turn of the year from winter to the joys of spring is celebrated by young and old together. The Parade is always viewed by dignitaries of church and state from a stage fully decorated and festooned in the national colours in honour of our patron St. Patrick. Come along and see our national day well celebrated in Listowel!
