Waterford and Suir Valley Railway

The magic of rails golden age has been brought to life in Kilmeaden, Co Waterford. Take an exciting railway journey on a narrow gauge (3ft) track through the country side and along the banks of the River Suir. The partially open carriages are pulled by a diesel locomotive. Children love the experience as they can relate to the smaller size rolling stock and narrow gauge track. Parents enjoy the beautiful scenery along the route as they get a glimpse into Mount Congreve Gardens, the Woodstown Viking site and the unspoilt countryside of County Kilkenny across the river. Wait for the train at Kilmeaden Station in a real railway carriage, where you can enjoy refreshments as the children colour in a picture. the 12 km round trip last approximately 40 minutes as you travel at 15km per hour. ~Train Schedule ~ May to August Mon- Sat: 11am to 4pm. Sunday: 12noon to 5pm Trains depart from Kilmeadan Station on the hour. The round trip lasts approximately 45 minutes. For September: until the 30th of September with trips on the hour from 11am to 3pm Monday to Saturday and 12noon to 4pm on Sunday. October - Waterford & Suir Valley Railway is Closed but will be open for the mid-term break in October: The opening times for the mid-break are as follows: Monday 19th October to Thursday 29th October Friday 30th October – Closed for the Spooky Express Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November Train schedule : 12noon, 1pm and 2pm Fares : Adults : €8.00 Seniors/Students : €6.50 Children : FREE Bookings taken for school tours, active retirement clubs, social clubs and other groups.
