Wexford Grooves Weekend

Wexford Town

Free gig trail, late night concerts, street entertainment, arts and crafts market and on the sporting side, horse racing, harness racing and a rowing regatta. The festival has shown Wexford to be a vibrant and interesting town with a feel - good vibe that is positively palpable. The event itself is a full - blooded and very lively affair with plenty of activites for everyone. Numbers attending have been on a definite upward trajectory in the past few years. However, you still feel that ' Hooves n Grooves ' has an intimate, freshly hatched feel to it, one of the principle charms of the festival. This year, a few things to note: that it is a couple of weeks earlier than usual, there is no longer a “ hooves ” in the title. These small changes will not in any way take away from one of the best festive weekends in the southeast. Highlights on the music front include legendary folk singer Paul Brady, the no less legendary Paul Young and his Tex Mex band Los Pacaminos. Spanish guitarist Agustin Maruri, sensational Colombian singer / guitarist Carolina Herrera, Cajun band Two Time Polka, Bulgarian ethno - rock - punk act Artery, Irish folk hero Johnny Moynihan and his band Moonshine ... and, wait for it, ... sell out operas and jammed to the rafters classical music recitals. This is, after all, the final weekend of the famous Wexford Festival Opera which this year, in a once off move, takes place in the Summer !
