The Joe Mooney Summer School of Traditional Music, Song and Dance is a weeklong celebration of Leitrim's traditional culture including workshops in traditional instruments, singing, set dancing and sean nós singing. There will be evening talks and recitals in fiddle, whistle and flute with emphasis on unique Leitrim style of flute playing. Set dancing is an integral part of the week with daily classes by Pat Murphy and nightly set dancing céilís with Ireland's best known ceili bands. The official opening and opening concert will be held in Lough Allen Hotel on Sunday, 21 July at 7pm. A grand traditional concert with highly acclaimed tutors giving top class performances will take place in the community centre at 8pm on Thursday, 25 July. Other events during the week will include a barbeque and outdoor set dancing.
