2013 dates to be confirmed. The Achill ROAR Adventure Race is one of Ireland's best and most popular one day adventure races with a choice of 3 race distances to suit all levels of athlete. The disciplines for the Achill ROAR event are running (mainly off road); cycling (on Tarmac suitable for any type of bike); and swimming or paddling either a double sit on top kayak or sup (kayaks/ sup supplied) or a single kayak should you chose to bring your own. There are 3 course distances. The MINI ROAR: a short run (600m) to lake; swim 200m or kayak/ sup 800m; short run (600m) to transition; run 4km ( flat - on beach); bike 12km; and a short dash (100m) to the finish. The SPORT ROAR consists of a short run (600m) to lake; swim 400m or kayak/ sup 1300m; short run (600m) to transition; run 8km (mainly flat on beach with short hill section in the middle); bike 22km and a short dash (100m) to finish. The EXPERT ROAR has a short run (600m) to lake; swim 1000m or kayak/sup 3000m; short run (600m)to transition; run 15km (beach and mountain run up to 644m summit); bike 45km; and a short dash (100m) to finish. The exact swim/kayak distances will be matched to give a ‘fair’ race with allowance for swimmers removal of wetsuit, etc.!
