Kilkenny Arts Festival

Kilkenny City

09 August 2013 - 18 August 2013

Kilkenny Arts Festival, Ireland's oldest multi-disciplinary arts event, presents its 40th festival in 2013. World-renowned artists, writers and classical musicians have been coming from across the globe to Kilkenny for forty years and the 2013 event promises to be a major celebration of the very best of Irish and international arts. In August the city of Kilkenny will come to life with visual art, classical music, theatre and dance, jazz, world & traditional Irish music, literature, film, indie music, craft, children's and street events. This unique festival celebrates Kilkenny's magnificent medieval heritage with major concerts and performances in landmark buildings including St. Canice's Cathedral, Kilkenny Castle, Rothe House & Garden, The Hole in the Wall and the Black Abbey. As part of The Gathering 2013, choirs from China, UK and France will join forces with the Kilkenny Arts Festival Choir and Orchestra for a magnificent massed choirs event on 17 August. Other highlights will include a major outdoor theatre event, a special celebration of leading Irish writers, a mini-festival of contemporary Irish dance and a concert programme featuring leading international classical artists. Join us and leading artists from around the world in Ireland's medieval capital to celebrate the 40th Kilkenny Arts Festival.
