Ballyshannon 400
Ballyshannon
05 August 2013 - 11 August 2013
In 2013, Ballyshannon, the oldest town in Ireland, will celebrate the 400th anniversary of the signing of the Royal Charter. Down through the centuries the town has been at the forefront of Irish history from the early invaders, through the O' Donnell's to the time when Ballyshannon was a garrison town and an important commercial trading port and a strategic bridging point over the river Erne. Ballyshannon 400, Seachtain Beal Atha Seannaigh, 2013 will commemorate this significant milestone in the town's history and will use it as a showcase event to promote the many clubs, societies and the rich culture and heritage of Ballyshannon. Ballyshannon 400 will feature archival exhibitions, audio visual exhibitions, cultural nights, sports events, music master classes, guided walks, genealogy, concerts, children's activities and street entertainment.
