Serai is one of Belfast's increasing number of fusion eateries, based in the restaurant-lined route that leads to Queen's University.
The kitchen takes numerous ideas from various Asian cuisines and reinvents the wheel, pairing crispy seafood ravioli with yellow curry sauce, or minced lamb with curry, cumin and galangal - and thats just for starters. Anything from Japanese Teppanyaki - with 'butteryaki' sauce to indonesian Nasi Goreng could follow, but Chinese inspired concoctions are just as popular. Turkey comes with Szechwan pepper sauce, stir-fried sirloin with black beans, and trusty sweet and sour pork with peppers, onions and cherry tomatoes. Desserts here are also the expression of a vivid imagination.
