Trevor/Bowen Summer School

Add to My Ireland Mitchelstown Cork - Ireland South

The Trevor/Bowen Summer School is a weekend of literary lectures and workshops that take place in Mitchelstown, County Cork. The event celebrates the short story as an art form. It also honours William Trevor, who was born in Mitchelstown in 1928, and Elizabeth Bowen, who had a home in nearby Kildorrery. Since its establishment in 2007, the Trevor/Bowen Summer School has succeeded in bringing some of the best-known writers and literary academics, from within Ireland and from abroad, to speak at the event. These include Victoria Glendinning, Julian Gough, Maurice Harmon, Billy Keane, Phyllis Lassner, Dolores MacKenna, Ulick O'Connor, Bernard O'Donoghue, Donncha O'Dulaing and Eibhear Walshe Sr.
