The Kilkenny City Library is situated on John’s Quay in Kilkenny City. It is committed to providing books for all ages and also offers multi-media and music collections. This location is wheelchair accessible, and a hearing loop system for use with hearing aids is available. Services offered by the library include PCs with Internet access, photocopying and printing facilities, LexisNexis, Vision-Net, and FAS computer courses. Additionally, there are adult and children’s lending sections, study areas, a local history section, local and national newspapers. Language courses and an adult literacy collection are also offered. Kilkenny City Library is home to a local studies department that works to preserve and enhance the collective memory of Kilkenny City and County. Offering access to the history and heritage of County Kilkenny, the department continuously collects, catalogues and preserves all types of Kilkenny-related material. The collection consists of books, journals, newspapers, photographs, audio-visual material, manuscripts, maps and more.
