Samhain Abhainn Ballina's Halloween Festival

Add to My Ireland Ballina Mayo - Ireland West

2013 dates to be confirmed. Samhain Abhainn - Ballina's Halloween Festival - celebrates all things spooky and scary and is heavily influenced by Irish traditions and customs. Its 4th year in existence, Samhain Abhainn is the West of Ireland's premier family festival. The festival includes nights filled with Ireland's very first interactive scary walks in Ballina's Belleek Woods - as dusk turns to darkness, Belleek Woods gets even scarier with ghosts & ghouls coming out to invite you into their nigh-time world. Not for the faint hearted, young children can enjoy the woods during the day. Children's events include mask and monster making workshops in Ballina Arts Centre, celebration of Irish carnival music workshop in Ballina GAA Club, bilingual shadow puppet theatre for the very young, kiddies Halloween disco and a showcase of Irish Halloween traditions in Ballina family resource centre. The whole family can join forces and take part in Ballina's Fancy dress car treasure hunt. Adults can also look forward to the scary woods walk and Scary Woods Survivor Bash party in local bars, history trail of Leigue cemetery, movie horror night in Ballina Arts centre and many fringe events taking place in Ballina town over the long bank holiday weekend. A festival for all with arts, crafts, music and entertainment, Ballina is the only pace to be this Halloween, and its only getting bigger and better every year!
