Murvagh River

Add to My Ireland Donegal Town Donegal - Ireland West

The Murvagh River, with its tributaries, the Bridgetown River and the Ballintra River, drain into Donegal Bay. They hold salmon, sea trout and brown trout. The peak of the salmon run is towards the end of July and through the month of August. This is saidto be an excellent sea trout fishery too and the fish begin running at the end of June. The Bridgetown River is regarded as a better sea trout river than the Ballintra River and sea trout are taken up as far as Rath Mill. There are no stiles or footbridges and the banks are badly overgrown. The fishing is regarded as free.
