Gertie Brownes in Custume Place (formally Victoria Place) has been a hostelry of some sort since the 10th or 11th centuries. Tongue’n’groove walls, pitch pine counters and genuine salvaged memorabilia all give this emporium a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.Gertie’s customer base is comprised of a cross section of Athlonians supplemented by a busy river tourist trade in Summer.
