Bear Essentials

Bear Essentials is original, creative and memorable beyond the bare necessities. If you go down to the woods near Bawnboy Co Cavan you are sure of a big surprise, for teddy bear heaven is just beside Brackley Lake on the borders of Fermanagh and Leitrim. Bear Essentials and the Silver Bear Visitors Centre is one of the many fascinating places you can visit in Ireland. Beside the Teddy Bear gift shop, displaying probably the largest collection of teddy bears in Ireland, famous brands like Steiff, Charlie Bears and of course Anke's "one off" Irish Designer Bears and Baby Essentials you can also visit the Silver Bear Centre. Here you find a selection of old teddy bears, and might get a glimpse of an old bear that has just checked into the "Teddy Bear Hospital". But the real experience is in making your very own teddy bear. You can do it as a family (1/1/2 hour workshop with afternoon tea) or book in for a half or full day in traditional teddy bear making and go home with your very own creation. By the way mohair bears last forever. Bear Essentials also offers overnight packages in conjunction with local B&B's or you can stay in the beautiful Slieve Russel Hotel in Ballyconnell. Please note that all our workshops have to be booked in advance! Bear Essentials also offer presentations and demonstrations for tour groups, including talks about the long teddy bear history and the everlasting teddy bear appeal. The tranquil gardens and little green houses let you experience a smell of Mediterranean plants of oranges, lemon, nectarines and almonds while the kids can have a magical play on the play-ground in the woods. If you visit Bear Essentials before Christmas make sure to take part in the Ginger Bread House workshop for children and adults and smell and taste some Christmas delights. Bear Essentials and Silver Bear Centre are wheel chair accessible and staff is experienced to work with special needs groups. They provide lots of parking space for cars and busses on their car park.
