Killybeg, Ireland's premier commercial fishing port, has also emerged as one of the top sea angling centres. Both boat and shore anglers will find a good variety of fish to try for. Several 100lbs + Blue Shark are recorded every year while the springtime Cod fishing is exceptional. Light tackle enthusiasts will enjoy Pollack fishing over many of the inshore reefs, while the inner reaches of Donegal Bay, particularly adjacent to Mountcharles, provide excellent spring Tope Fishing. the main channel which runs all the way up to Donegal town has also turned up Monkfish recently. Freelining and float fishing for Macherel, Pollack and Mullet from east pier. Bottom fishing inside angle of west pier for Conger.
