The club has been at its present parkland site, overlooking Belfast Lough since 1925, having moved a couple of times in its long history. It’s one of only a handful of clubs which can boast the title ‘Royal’ – the Prince of Wales first visited in 1885 and became their first patron, and Prince Andrew is the current patron. It feels like a very special place to play. The course, by the great HC Colt, is not especially long but it requires concentration and consistency.
From Belfast follow A2 to Bangor. Go past Holywood. 2 miles outside Holywood pass the turn for Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, left at next traffic lights.
