Ballybunion Kerry - Ireland South

When US star Tom Watson played Ballybunion links on a private visit in 1981 he rated it as one of the best in the world. He has been unrelenting in his support of Ballybunion as the pinnacle of the world’s links golf experiences ever since. In 2000, club members unanimously voted Tom Club Captain, an honour he graciously accepted. By any standards, Ballybunion is a formidable test even when the wind is not blowing. Its layout demands long and accurate shots to narrowly trapped greens. Its unique design includes nine par fours, five par threes, four par fives, a stretch of five holes from 12 to 16 without a par four, back to back par fives on the first nine and back to back par threes on the second nine! Ballybunion hosted the Irish Open in 2000.
