The River Shannon source is located at the Shannon Pot, 152m above sea level on Cuilcagh Mountain near Dowra. Meandering 214 miles through Lough Allen across the central plain to Loop Head in Co. Clare and eventually the Atlantic, it is the longest river in Ireland.
Dowra is a walker's paradise as the Miners, The Leitrim and The Cavan Ways all meander through the area.
