Donard —County Wicklow

Donard is an enchanting village at the northern end of the Glen of Imaal. The Dwyer McAllister Cottage, which is a few kilometres southeast of the town, is worth a visit to anyone interested in Irish History. This cottage is where this brave 1798 rebel fought the encircling British Troops and made good his escape over the mountains. It nestles in the shade of Kaedeen Mountain and is a fine example of a vernacular thatched cottage built with local stone and whitewashed inside and out.
