Ballyhaise —County Cavan
There has been a village at Ballyhaise since the early 17th century.
Ballyhaise House was built for the Newburghs, a local landlord family, in the 1730s. Its architect was a German living in Dublin, Richard Cassells. He designed many of Dublin's finest buildings and squares, including St Stephen's Green, as well as Leinster House, Ireland's Houses of Parliament. It has been used as an agricultural College since the beginning of the 20th century. Near to Ballyhaise House is a charming bridge over the Annalee River; it is nearly 300 years old.
