Ballycastle —County Mayo

Ballycastle (Baile and Chaisil) is a village and resort 26 km northwest of Ballina. The surrounding area is rich with archaeological treasures, dating from the Neolithic period. There are over 30 court-tombs alone in this area, including two very interesting ones in Ballyglass townland. The ruin of St. Patrick's Church and a spectacular Dun Briste can be seen at Downpatrick Head, 8 km northeast. (The area is especially dangerous for children.)
