Ballingeary —County Cork
This is an inland village - a Gaeltacht or Irish speaking area - in the Shehy Mountains and is an important centre for Irish language tuition; young people come here each year to the Irish College to learn the Irish language.
The River Lee rises in Gougane Barra, just a few miles west of the village. The River Lee widens out into a series of lakes at Ballingeary, around which there is an attractive scenic drive.
Ballingeary Agricultural & Horticultural Show is held here every year, and offers fun for all the family.
