Ballinamore —County Leitrim

Ballinamore (Béal an Atha Moir) meaning the 'mouth of the big Ford was so named because it was the main crossing point on the Yellow River which later became the Ballinamore/Ballyconnell canal and is more recently referred to as the 'Shannon-Erne Waterway'.
Ballinamore is international renowned for its abundance of coarse angling waters. It also boasts the only golf course in County Leitrim that lies along the banks of the recently reopened Ballinamore/Ballyconnell Canal.
