Shoals of adult bream are often huge in the Erne at Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, while roach are also prolific around there, too.

Canoeing

Northern Ireland’s first canoe trail is in Fermanagh, and the beautiful lakes of the Lower and Upper Lough Erne provide over 50km of waterway. What’s more, with the Upper Lough Erne linking to the Shannon, you can even paddle to Limerick if it takes your fancy!

Castle Archdale Forest Walk, Irvinestown

A lovely walk that offers excellent views of Lough Erne and the Maghoo Cliffs. you’re not content just to visit the Marble Arch Caves, then put on a boiler suit and explore underground Caving. Caving is available from the Lough Melvin Holiday Centre (tel: ++ 44 28 6865 8142).

Uncover Fermanagh’s rich heritage with a rake of fascinating castles

Castle Coole

Designed by James Wyatt for the Earls of Belmore, and completed in 1798, Castle Coole is a perfect example of late 18th-century Hellenism with a fine Palladian front.  

Cuilcagh Mountain Park

At a height of 665m, Cuilcagh is the highest point in Fermanagh, and is the county’s only true mountain. The area is rich in geology, folklore, archeology, flora and fauna while the middle slopes of the mountain are covered in a rich layer of peat. 

Devenish Island

Devenish Island is famous for its perfect 12th-century round tower and Carrickfergus Castle.
