Free for all!
Absolutely FREE things to do in Dublin!
We've pulled together a few of our favourite things to do in Dublin - and none of them will cost you a penny! Start the day with a walk in one of our beautiful parks, after lunch drop into one of our national museums for an hour of cultural stimulation. The best way to spend an evening in Dublin is to find a cosy side-street pub with a traditional Irish music session - the best concert you never paid for!

Kids go free on city bus tours
Let the younger ones enjoy the city’s sights on Dublin Bus’s hop-on-hop-off tour...children under 14 can now travel for free when accompanied with a fare paying adult – have a chuckle with the entire family!
Parks and gardens
Dublin is a green city (Cara thinks so, too). Get out and visit the city’s beautiful parks and gardens, feed the ducks, watch the deer roam wild or people watch. Even the National Botanical Gardens in Glasnevin are open to the public for free. And the tender loving care of the city’s landscape gardeners is guaranteed to take your breath away!
Getting around
For the year 2010, you can hop into an Ecocab to get you around Dublin absolutely free between 10am and 7pm! There’s also a bike rental scheme whereby the first 30 minutes of usage is free, and with 40 bike stations across the city, it can be peddle power all the way.
Museums and Galleries
All of Ireland’s National Museums are free of charge! Visit the Natural History, the Archaeology and History and the Decorative Arts and History Museums in Dublin and learn all about the country’s colourful past. Many of the art galleries are free, too, so make sure to take in some works from the masters.
Markets, markets everywhere
All the markets are completely free, but to be honest you’ll probably be so tempted to buy it may cost you just a little bit when you get there! In the Temple Bar quarter, Saturdays are reserved for markets: the Designer Market, Food Market, Book Market and more. Another must-see is the Moore Street Market, with its colourful displays, loud vendors and multi-cultural clientele. There are also gorgeous artisan markets in Dalkey, Marlay Park and Dun Laoghaire on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, respectively!
Visit the lesser-known churches
While St Patrick's Cathedral and Christ Church Cathedral do charge an entry fee outside mass hours, there are plenty you can visit absolutely free, including: St Mary's Pro-Cathedral (the Palestrina Choir sings like angels at mass on Sundays); St Ann's (loaves of bread are still handed to the poor); Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church (houses the relics of Saint Valentine); and University Church (a Byzantine gem in the heart of the city).
