Dublins Dining Dens

With much of Dublin’s artistry used to create Joyce’s books and Beckett’s plays you’ll be glad to know we’ve saved some magic for the kitchen. Culinary wonders like Chapter One and Fitzers Café are among tasty treats on offer while White’s Seafood Bistro boasts the freshest of fish suppers. There’s a happy ending for Vegetarians, too, with the delicious Govinda’s serving wonderful veggie fare.

Dublin Markets

The chat and the craic at Dublin’s markets is where the locals tell their stories. Grab a hot chocolate and wander the stalls of The Point Village Market or find an original copy of your favourite read at the Temple Bar Book Market. Bargains abound at the Dublin Flea Market, where stalls are overloaded with all sorts of pirate treasure. For some old fashioned haggling with some chatty locals pop in to the Liberty Market where bargain hunting is deemed an art.

Dublin Garden Glories

Whether it’s the manicured lawns of St Stephen’s Green or the abundant flora and fauna of the Botanic Gardens, Dublin certainly isn’t short of a dash of colour! And then there are the hidden gems, like the fairytale Iveagh Gardens off Harcourt Street or the clandestine Blessington Street Basin known as ‘Dublin’s Secret Garden’. With all of these examples in mind, you could argue that Mother Nature is the greatest artist of them all.

A good sport

When sport is played right it can be an art form in itself. From the turf of Croke Park to the finely trimmed grass of the Aviva Stadium, Dubliners have cheered on teams for generations so why not add your voice? And what could be more dramatic that watching the finest horses leap the tallest fences at the Fáilte Ireland Horse Show One thing’s for sure – sport in Dublin is poetry in motion.

Dublin is a stage

With Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw calling Dublin home, it’s no surprise that the city is home to its fair share of Theatres. Book a both at the glamorous Gaiety or don your finest gown for a performance at Yeats' The Abbey or the handsome Gate Theatre. For a taste of the modern trip down to The Project Arts Centre and grab a glimpse of the stage stars of tomorrow.

Kings, castles and cathedrals

The castles and cathedrals of Dublin could tell some wonderful stories.  Imagine the novel you could write about the feudal stronghold of Drimnagh Castle or Christchurch Cathedral founded back in 1030 by a Viking King? Malahide Castle has perfect towers for a princess to lower her hair from and according to legend the saintly hero Patrick baptized converts at the stunning St Patrick’s Cathedral. Exploring all these mystical places you might think to yourself ‘If Dublin were a fairytale she’d be a real page-turner!’
