Description

Ballymena Antrim - Northern Ireland

Glenarm is a 45 minute drive from Belfast with it’s new Titanic Centre and a 1 hour drive to the Giant's Causeway, along a winding, spectacular coastline for the entire journey.

The Holiday Townhouse offers very ample and secure parking to the rear and private gardens with garden furniture and BBQ equipment. Visitors can experience a real log fire on arrival, enjoy a welcome pack and bring their pets.

The Townhouse is very conveniently located for walkers along the Ulster Way, and Antrim Hills route which passes through the village and for cyclists as the Sustrans cycle network passes through Glenarm. Marina visitors have found it a refuge during enforced weather stops or delayed repairs.

Glenarm is one of the earliest villages in Ulster dating back to 13th century and is the seat of the Earls of Antrim, whose home is at Glenarm Castle. The village has an attractive quaintness as it has retained a great deal of its early architecture, streetscape and heritage, protected largely by its conservation status, and its churches, landmark buildings and cemeteries are worth exploring. The Forest at the end of the village and Straidkelly Nature Reserve offer local walks and an opportunity to see red squirrels in their natural habitat alongside some native flora and fauna.

The restored wall garden at Glenarm Castle is open from May when the tulip festival takes place, until the end of September. The garden dating back to the 18th century is a painter’s paradise for local art groups, and has many interesting features including the tea rooms.

Glenarm is home to Steenson’s Designer jewellers where artisans and silversmiths can be viewed crafting special pieces.

With a supermarket offering a fresh butchery department, a coffee shop offering delicious light meals, a taxi service and pubs all literally a few doors away, the village can accommodate all visitors whatever their needs and a warm welcome is assured.
