History

Kitty Snow's is a beautifully restored and extended cottage which was originally constructed in the early 19th century.

It took its name from a wedding that took place between Peter Mc Grady and Kate Mc Carten in the winter of 1864. During the wedding breakfast , a great snow storm covered the Mournes and surrounding lands in a deep carpet of snow. This ensured the guests, including the bridal party couldn't leave until the next day. Forever after the young bride was known as Kitty Snow. The name also stuck with the cottage and to this day the name "Kitty Snow's" will greet guests who visit this cottage in the hills of Co Down.

Accommodation

From entering the cottage you will notice the character of the original building has not ben lost with the oak staircase and feature wall.

Kitty Snow's has provision for up to 8 persons. There are three bathrooms, (two ensuite), all with showering facilities.. A large dining room adjacent to the traditional kitchen, provides the ideal setting to entertain or for a romantic dinner. The lining room offers French doors for those who wish to enjoy the picturesque scenery rather than the 32 inch television with satellite and wood burning stove. A large patio to the front of the house offers an ideal location for BBQ's and sun worshippers.
