Description

Kells Meath - Ireland East

The cottages surround a large car-free courtyard, with ample parking at the back of the courtyard including a cosy private country bar and restaurant suitable for groups of up to 60 people. All our cottages provide luxury and comfort with modern facilities, whilst retaining the character of each house and the historical charm of this beautiful courtyard. The cottages are fully furnished with fitted kitchens, luxury bathrooms and an eclectic mixture of period and modern furnishings. The cottages are flexible enough to provide a cosy retreat for two or a venue for a large family reunion. Sleeping up to 84 people, we offer superb self- catering accommodation for short-breaks, family holidays and large group gatherings for anniversaries and birthdays or other special occasions. Clonabreany House lies at the gateway to the Boyne Valley in Clonabreany near Crossakiel, Co. Meath. Decorated megalithic stones in the nearby graveyard indicate that Clonabreany, or Russagh as it was also known, had been an exceptional place in the prehistoric community of North West Meath. The site is part of the region traversed by Slighe Assail, one of the major route ways of Ancient Ireland. The early Christian settlement at Clonabreany can be dated back to 500 AD. The opening of Clonabreany House in 2009 marked the unveiling of a major restoration project of the 18th century estate manager's house and adjoining courtyard. In 2008, Clonabreany Courtyard received an Ellison Award from An Taisce, for excellence in conservation. At Clonabreany we are surrounded by breathtaking countryside, historical sites, forest parks, gardens and numerous other visitor attractions. The area is steeped in history and situated close to the cairns at Loughcrew. Clonabreany is an ideal location for walking, cycling, fishing, golfing, pony trekking and much more. Clonabreany is located adjacent to the lakeland districts of Meath, Westmeath and Cavan. Hundreds of lakes in beautiful rural surroundings are home to an array of fish and Clonabreany is ringed by renowned stillwater lakes such as Lough Lene (with Blue Flag status), Lough Bane and Lough Sheelin, famed for its mayfly fishing.
