River Cottage has recently been redecorated to a very high standard and we are very pleased that to say that it has just been awarded 4*star classification by the Tourism Standard’s Authority under their new, revised criteria. The Cottage, which is adjacent to Kilmaneen Farmhouse, combines the feel of a cosy, country cottage with all the modern facilities that help to make your stay a real holiday. The layout of the cottage consists of a combined kitchen/living/dining-room and the two en-suite bedrooms lead off this main area. The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster and kettle. The living area is equipped with a TV which has 5 Irish channels and also Sky channels, a DVD player and a radio/CD player. Internet access is provided in River Cottage free of charge. There is electric heating which is charged according to usage. There is plenty to do while staying at River Cottage. The rivers Suir and Tar provide the natural boundaries around our farm at Kilmaneen making it an ideal location for your fishing holiday to Ireland. There is approximately 1km of fishing on the Suir and 0.5km on the Tar. These rivers provide good fly fishing for wild brown trout fishing and salmon fishing. This is a private stretch of fishing consequently it is a very quiet and relaxing place to fish We have a special interest in hill walking and hiking. Kevin is an experienced walking guide and he is always happy to take groups out on the mountains and to share the exceptional beauty of this area. We provide a shuttle service for walkers and drying facilities for wet clothes and boots. We will also prepare a packed lunch and offer tips and advice about walking in the nearby mountain ranges. We have an extensive selection of books and maps to help with the planning process. River Cottage is ‘Pet Friendly Accommodation’. Guests are welcome to bring their dogs into the Cottage but we also provide the option of safe and secure kennels nearby in the farmyard.
