Description

Dingle Kerry - Ireland South

Situated on the Conor Pass Road roughly 1 Km from the centre of Dingle, Duínín House is about a 3 minute drive from the Conor Pass itself, Ireland's highest mountain pass. The views from the Pass are spectacular. Duínín House overlooks Dingle town and harbour and is directly opposite the townland of Hollywood or, in Gaelic, Cuilleannach. The restaurants and bars of Dingle town are about a 15 mins. walk away (2 mins by car). Though close to town, the house is set in the heart of the countryside and the local farmers tend their sheep and cattle or till the land, especially in Spring and Autumn, their busiest time of year. There are 5 en-suite bedrooms in Duínín House- 3 double rooms and 2 twin-bedded rooms. (A Double room contains 1 double bed; A Twin room contains 2 single beds). All rooms have private bathrooms containing washhand basin, shower and toilet. All rooms are equipped with television, hairdryer, shaving socket. Adaptors are available from the hosts just in case the electrical fittings are not compatible. The best views from are from the conservatory/dining/lounge area, which is for the use of all our guests. In the foreground, Dingle town with its square church belfry is just a kilometre away, nestling on the north shore of Dingle harbour. Across the harbour is Burnham Hill topped by Esk Tower, constructed during the Great Famine of 1846-49 to provide relief work for the local, starving population. Beyond Burnham and Esk tower, mighty Mount Eagle fills the Western sky, with Marhin Peak on its right and Inish Vickillane, the most southerly of the Blasket Island group, peeping over its left flank. Dúinín House is an ideal base for tours of the peninsula, whether walking, cycling, by bus or by car. We are within easy access of the many attractions of the Dingle peninsula - golfing, swimming, trips to the Blasket islands and the Heritage centre in Dunquin, An Mara Beo (the undersea world), boat trips to see Fungi the Dingle Dolphin and we can arrange tours of the peninsula, including Archaeology Tours for our guests. We can advise our guests about Dingle's many restaurants and bars and where to find the best traditional music sessions.
