First there was the road-bowling game you came across on your way to the Japanese Gardens in Kildare. Taking the bowlers advice you head off to the Laytown Races. You weren’t expecting a racecourse on a beautiful strand that seems to emerge from the sands as the tide goes out. The races only happen once a year so the Japanese Gardens can wait another little while.

Northern Ireland
Top of your list is the Giant’s Causeway – a landscape created by fighting giants, or so the tour guide would have you believe. She also told you that you couldn’t leave the area without visiting Bushmills Distillery, where you can raise a glass to four hundred years of unbroken whiskey making. On your way there you pass Royal Portrush – you’ve heard it’s a real challenge of a golf course and you wouldn’t mind trying it out. Maybe it was kissing the Blarney Stone that’s helped you get so chatty with the locals?
