La ville de Limerick ( comté de Limerick)est la troisième ville de la République d’Irlande par sa taille. Elle bénéficie d’une situation magnifique sur l’un des fleuves d’Irlande les plus majestueux, le Shannon.
Conquise par les Vikings au 9ème siècle, cette bouillonnante cité moderne à l' Ouest de l'Irlande, possède un riche passé médiéval, qui résonne le long de ses rues anciennes.
Aux côtés du renommé Hunt Museum, qui rassemble une collection exceptionnelle d’œuvres d’artistes tels Picasso, de Vinci et Renoir, le remarquable King John’s Castle, glorieux vestige du Moyen Age construit il y a 800 ans, est l’une des autres fiertés de la ville (situé dans le Quartier médiéval).
