Belmullet Mayo Ireland West

You need to head off the beaten track to appreciate the little known, but hugely rewarding, north coast of Mayo. This trail gives a glimpse of the area’s wild and rugged beauty, with its rocky headlands and inlets and towering cliffs. This is an area steeped in tradition – with the Irish language still widely spoken. The Children of Lir sculpture is a nice feature. It’s based on the old legend where, as a punishment, a family of children were transformed into swans and forced to spend hundreds of years wandering the local countryside. Fortunately it won’t be such an onerous task for you!.
