The town is situated only 29 kilometers from Dublin City Centre. Nestled between the Sugar Loaf Mountains and the sea this attractive seaside town is an ideal holiday centre for those interested in outdoor activities. In 2002 the local beach was awarded the EU Blue Flag - an award that is given to beaches of a very high quality. The town and its surrounds boast golf courses, a very active sailing club which caters for the smaller sailing craft and a motor Yacht Club for cruisers. The sea-shore is renowned for shore angling, bathing and walking.
