Heritage Week - 18th - 26th August. Exhibition Opening & Heritage Talks Fiday 17th August at 5.30 pm. Admission free. Christ Church Cathedral Waterford celebrates National Heritage Week, 18th to 26th August with an exhibition of drawings of architectural detail and artifacts by artist Eddie O’Keeffe. Drawings by students and the public resulting from a workshop facilitated by Mr O’Keeffe during the Waterford Festival of Architecture in April 2012 will also be on display. The launch of this exhibition will be enhanced with talks by historian Julian Walton and architect Ken Wigham, giving life to the historical, cultural and architectural context of the Cathedral. Exhibition will be on-going from 18th to 26th August. There will be two further talks during Heritage Week; Tuesday 21st August at 11am .Admission free - Heritage talk by Historian Julian Walton. Thursday 23rd August at 11am. Admission free. Heritage talk by Architect Ken Wigham. Rhythms of the Suir: Saturday 18th August at 12 Noon Tickets €7 / €5 conc. / Children U14 Free The Concert at 12 noon is part of a series of concerts the poet and composer will give throughout Ireland during the summer months. Mark will give some solo readings from ‘The River Book, A Celebration of the Suir’, his recent collaborative project with photographer Paddy Dwan. Poet Mark Roper, composer Eric Sweeney and photographer Paddy Dwan combine for a special concert of their work on Saturday 18th August in Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford. Eric will play some of his compositions on the restored Elliot/Jones cathedral organ and then play a series of improvisations to Mark’s poetry. Paddy Dwan's photographs from 'The River Book' will be shown as slides during the concert. An unusual collaboration between poet, composer and photographer; an occasion not to be missed. Heritage Talks The Cathedral will also feature 'two not to be missed' illuminating heritage talks during National Heritage Week; Tuesday 21st August at 11am with well known local historian Julian Walton, and The Cathedral plays host to architect Ken Wigham on Thursday 23rd August at 11am.
