Repleto de historia literaria, Sligo es uno de los condados más pintorescos del noroeste, y sirvió de inspiración al poeta WB Yeats, cuyo último lugar de descanso se encuentra a los pies de las preciosas Montañas Benbulben. 

Además de preciosos paisajes montañosos, Sligo puede presumir de lagos transparentes, y maravillosas  playas encaramadas al borde del Atlántico. 

La ciudad de Sligo, por otra parte, es un lugar bullicioso y con mucho ambiente, donde encontrará buenos restaurantes, tiendas y pubs. Por su parte los pueblos más pequeños son lugares excelentes en los que escapar de su acelerado ritmo de vida. 

Y si lo que le interesa es la historia antigua, le agradará saber que el monumento megalítico más grande de Irlanda se encuentra en Carrowmore.
